Dr. Mackinnon is the director of the Clinical and Translational Research Core Lab in the Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The Clinical and Translational Research Core Lab utilizes histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular techniques to analyze human tissue samples. This lab provides resources and knowledge to MCW faculty, residents, and fellows to facilitate the pursuit of their academic research interests. Dr. Mackinnon also supervises the molecular diagnostics clinical service at MCW and is the Director of the Molecular Diagnostics rotation for pathology residents. Dr. Mackinnon’s research interests include pancreatic cancer, sarcoma, and lung cancer. He earned his BA in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, his MS in neurobiology and physiology from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
