Specimen Prep Centrifuge* at 3500 rpm for 15 minutes within 4 hours of collection. Transfer the top 2/3 of plasma to a plastic transport tube and centrifuge again at 3500 rpm for 15 minutes. Transfer the top cell-free plasma to clean plastic transport tubes in 1-mL aliquots and label tubes as "CITRATE PLASMA". FREEZE IMMEDIATELY and maintain frozen until tested.

Comments Submit separate samples when requesting multiple tests on the same specimen. This is a quantitative test for D-Dimer. This assay has been cleared as an aid in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) & pulmonary embolism (PE). It is recommended it only be used for this purpose in the outpatient setting. At a cut-off of 0.5 mg/L FEU the negative predictive value is 98% for DVT or PE with a sensitivity of 97% and specificity of 42%.
